Mia Tang is a high-achieving daughter of immigrants. I haven't read all the books in the series, but in this one, Mia is attending journalism camp on a scholarship, her friends have various complications going on, her mom is trying to overcome her language shyness to present at a conference and the 'powers that be' at the journalism camp seem to only be interested in the stories written by those with influential parents. With the help of community, Mia and friends fight back.

Easy but entertaining. Not my favorite of the series... Finished it in an hour. One of those middle grade books I'll read no matter how old I get. Not incredible, but fun and cute. Not meaningless either.
