Anytime a book has to do with a therapist or with a mental health unit. I immediately want to read it. This book delivered!

Georgia finds herself in quite a predicament after she is found standing over the body of her dead sister. With all of the pulls that her family has, she ends up on a psychiatric hold instead of waiting in jail. But did she really do it? Did she really kill her sister?

Cue Mandy, who is clueless as to who Georgia is. However, Georgia knew exactly who Mandy was. Can Mandy trust a stranger enough to help her with her innocence?

I absolutely ate this book up. The twists were phenomenal. I love a good thriller with rich people behaving badly, it never gets old. The power struggles that you see at play in those dynamics.

This twisty thriller comes out August 5, 2025 and I absolutely recommend it to wrap up your summary reading.

Huge thank you to MacMillian Audio for this ALC!

This was a really good book. I was hooked almost instantly. This is a thriller that involves sisters, murder, and secrets. One sister is in a locked ward in a hospital being held for murder. She is perfectly sane (or is she?) but is faking insanity for certain reasons. She knows she has a twin sister but since they were separated when they were born, the other sister has no clue. Until now. She wants to see her sister and get her to help her out.
I won't tell you more about it because I don't want to ruin it for you. It's really good with twists you just won't see coming. When you think you know what's going to happen, you may find that you absolutely do not.
This book is well written and highly recommended!

I had the chance to listen to the audio book version of this book and it was brilliant! The narrator was January LaVoy is the narrator and she is one of my all time favorites. She's amazing. Highly, highly, recommend.

The Locked Ward was entertaining and easy to get into from the first page. I enjoyed the premise and was interested in where the plot was taking us. It never “wow’d” me in any aspect though and the ending felt like another mystery solved. I think this would make the perfect relaxing beach thriller.

The Locked Ward by Sarah Pekkanen is a captivating psychological thriller that draws you into the lives of twins who meet for the first time under extraordinary circumstances.  Told from alternating points of view, the story keeps you questioning what the truth is.  Is either sister telling the whole story?  Do they even know it themselves?  Lies, deception, and cover-ups run deep throughout the book.

As their stories unfold, a ticking clock adds urgency as one twin needs to save the other.  Ultimately, they may both need to save each other.  The short, alternating chapters create a fast-paced rhythm that makes the book hard to put down.  Some of the twists I anticipated, but others surprised me.

I give this book 4.25 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-moving story with twists that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Sarah Pekkanen for the advance reader copy.

This was a fun campy thriller that was fast paced with high entertainment value! I definitely guessed some of the reveals…but also still gasped and was completely locked in! I have to say I absolutely love a little twin trope in any kind of book so this one really was the perfect book for me!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for a complimentary early release copy of The Locked Ward by Sarah Pekkanen.

The Locked Ward was a fun intriguing read with lots of interesting elements, theres the new strange relationship forming between twin sisters who were separated at birth plus all of the rich socialite drama and family dynamics. I liked both of our main characters, Amanda was a nice character to read from, she was the type of character that I could really route for because I felt that she played things out smartly. It’s been a while since I’ve read from a character that can hold their own and it was refreshing. Georgia’s perspective was written in a strange (at least to me) but unique way that I found myself enjoying. During her perspective the book really emphasizes placing yourself in Georgia’s shoes, it’s written like you are going through what she is. I found myself being able to connect more with her character because of this choice!

Overall there is quite a bit I liked about The Locked Ward, mainly the sister’s relationships, Georgia’s perspective, and the socialite backgrounds. Theres just something about fancy characters that I find intriguing to read about. This was a fun read but after sitting with things for a while I’m landing on a 3.5 rating. I wasn’t particularly impressed with some of the reveals.
