This tried to tackle too many topics at once. Unfortunately none of it was believable.

(only available in German)
"Was wir dachten, was wir taten" is about a person with a gun entering a classroom but it is not necessarily about a shooting and fortunately not as violent as I was expecting. It is set in Germany and maybe that is why it does not massively discuss gun laws or how the person could walk into a school with a weapon in the first place.
There is a version of this book that can be discussed in a German class in school and I get why you would choose it for that context. There is a lot to discuss about teenage dreams and what drives a person to such drastic measures. In my opinion, the motive of the shooter still remains too uncertain in the end.
The writing style felt a bit bland and at times you could feel that there is an adult writing teenager thoughts.
Overall, while this book is the opposite of a feelgood book, it is still a quick read but it wasn't as impactful as I expected it to be.
