The thing to keep in mind about reviews is that they are based on the state of the reader’s emotions and experiences…. With that said, it is a good story. A bit difficult to follow at first with the connection between the two main characters not coming until much later in the story. Overall, I would say it is a story about finding yourself and loving yourself before you can love anyone else.
Moderate: Pedophilia and Adult/minor relationship
Minor: Death of parent and Child death
There’s not a lot of time spent on the inappropriate Adult/child relationship.roeckitcody's review against another edition

This book is an exploration of the lives of two queer women as they try and find meaning in the experiences that formed them. I liked the two main characters and was invested in watching them overcome their pasts. It was easy to feel compassion for them. All the characters around them felt fleshed out, and for the most part acted like people who were just trying their best.
Symbolism was used really well - it felt recognizable but not overworked.
If you’re looking for a nuanced queer litfic with an underlying sense of optimism, I highly recommend Yerba Buena.
The relationship between the two of them felt organic, and I appreciated that they evolved as their own complete individuals without becoming codependent.

It’s safe to say that Nina Lacour is one of my favorite authors. I've loved every book of her’s that I’ve read and this one is not exception. The writing was amazing the characters the atmosphere everything about it was just *chef's kiss* the places the characters went were so well described i felt like i was there with them and the characters were so well developed and complex I can’t really say much without giving things away so I’ll end this by saying go read this book because it’s amazing
