I really enjoyed this book. The characters aren’t anything special, and the writing is pretty straightforward, but the plot kept me very interested.

The concept and universe it entails is very well done; the plot itself was developed in a reasonable fashion and kept my interest through-out. But, for me, the human characterizations just fell a little flat. Not enough to keep me from finishing the book, however, nor from moving on to the next in the series, but enough for me to lower my rating by a star. I am interesting in finding out how things progress, narrative-wise, and am looking forward to seeing what new plot twists are in store and what new universal wonders will be presented. I just hope that the next resolutions do not hinge as much on human emotions and character's inability to be open to change.

Wow I could not put this book down! Ben Bova writes scifi the way it should be written. When a book makes you ask questions of yourself while you read it then you have a great book.

Really enjoyed the world and scenario for the novel that Bova built but it was hard to get past how one dimensional and poorly written the characters were. They were just terribly done and very unbelievable.

Derivative in theme, not hard SciFi; more of a romance novel.

This is the most Star Trek book that I've ever read that isn't Star Trek.

This wasn't his best. It started great but ending was a let down. I was disappointed.

I love the premise.  Interesting how the story unfolded. I would read a sequel; curious whether they could be successful.
