Willem's story is not exactly a sequel to Allyson's (Just One Day), rather like a complimentary tale since it takes place during the same time. Regardless of what you call it, Gayle Forman does a fantastic job in showing us his travels and growth during the year of his life following the fateful day his path crossed "Lulu's."

It was cute to see his perspective, I love how consumed they both were! Cute reads but nothing special.

Not quite what I expected but definately a welcome easy and refreshing read after the second book of GOT.

Okay. I don't love Willem, he's too broody for me, but his journey is certainly fun. From Mexico to India, he really does the self-discovery thing just like the movies. Review to come.

I am giving this one 4 stars same as the first book in this series but really the first book is 4.5 and this one is 3.5. I enjoyed this story and I enjoyed Willem but his transformation was much less purposeful somehow and, while the complexities of it where occasionally brought up, they were mostly shoved aside to keep him the clear romantic hero. I liked him better complex and I would have liked more after Allison and Willem meet up....ended too abruptly for me. I wanted more. But overall, this was really an excellent YA romance series, IMO.

Seeing Willem’s PoV was enlightening and wonderful. It made up for yet another open ending. Don't make the mistake of thinking that this book takes place after Just One Day ends (like I did.) At first I was hesitant, because I, more often than not, loathe open endings. But Just One Year was written beautifully.

Just One Year didn't make me doubt the characters. It had the opposite effect, I now have much more confident in Willem. I understand him, and that makes me understand the connection he has with 'Lulu'. I feel like I can imagine my own ending, and for the reader to have that feeling is a blessing.

So, as I said before, this book is basically a parallel to the one told from Allyson's PoV. Don't let that turn you off or bore you. There weren't any slow parts to this book. Even when it seemed like it was getting a bit droopy, it still had the can't-put-it-down effect.

If all love stories were written by Gayle Forman, the world would be a better place.

This girl didn't break your heart. She just broke your streak.

Immediately after finishing [b:Just One Day|17623975|Just One Day (Just One Day, #1)|Gayle Forman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1368722144s/17623975.jpg|17992862], I had to read this one. I enjoyed it so very much, and needed to hear Willem's adventures. And this book didn't disappoint.

Not nearly as amazing as the first book, but just a wonderful view of Willem after wondering what was going on with him for an entire book.

It takes some weird, Forrest Gump-level turns at points (the Bollywood film), but it's a serious case of what if. What if Allison had done this. What if Willem had done that. They'd have met up earlier, and saved both of them pain.

But neither of them were ready to meet each other. They both had so much healing to do, and had to suffer, break, and come back together as "I" before they could possibly come back together as "we".

Around 3/4 of the way through, I realized Willem's story was going to end exactly where Allison's story ended. And I was frustrated, because I wanted to see their conversation, see them discuss what had happened, apologies, explanations, realizations. I wondered if there would be a third book.

But by the time we got to the end of the book, I didn't want another book. I saw there's a book 2.5, but I really don't want to read it. I think this is the absolute perfect ending. I don't want to hear their discussions. I just want to imagine them, in blurry water color form. It's lovely, and each reader can put their own mental spin on what happens.

A very sweet series of books. Unexpected treasures.
