I'm putting in my review a little while after I read the book, but there were two things I remember standing out to me. There were something things that the characters did that didn't make sense to me. They made choices that weren't logical and there was either no explanation for their choice or the explanation didn't cut it. The other thing I noticed was that this is barely a Cork O'Connor book. Yes, he's in it, but he's more like a side character this time around. Still love reading Krueger despite these mild complaints!

Fast paced thriller that’s got a malevolent and unknown group pursuing Cork’s “family” on foot through the North Woods. Indigenous rights and environmental issues are the cause but that’s unknown to the quarry as it’s flight, fight, and flee in a race against time and the weather to security and safety.

I had been on a Krueger kick and picked this up thinking it was going to be like Ordinary Grace. It's part of a series I have not read. It is a stand-alone read, I didn't feel lost, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I guess this is what most of his books are like, what an amazingly diverse writer. I wouldn't have picked this up had I realized what it was, but I'm glad I read it. Maybe I'll go back and read more of the series.

I have been a fan of William Kent Krueger for quite some time now and his latest Cork O'Connor book Fox Creek answers the question why. It is so well written that I couldn't put it down. It's one of the best in the series and I just love the way characters develop through the years. This one is full with suspense all the way to the end, you don't know if someone will die and if so, who? As usual we get a lot of nature and some rather sinister bad guys., i also fiound it interesting to learn that some of the stupid ideas actually had a base in reality. For those that haven't found this author before it's about time you start reading his books. I also recommend listening to some of the interviews with Krueger available on various podcasts. It gives a new dimension to his work.
