I’ve enjoyed a few of the Cara Black series of detective yarns set in Paris - having lived there for a while I enjoy following the action through the streets I walked. However I think this will be the last one as the plots are complex and convoluted and I find myself getting lost among the crowd of characters.

I think I liked her shoes better than the book--even though I couldn't tell you what they looked like.

Quite the intricate mystery. It was a bit tough sometimes keeping all the characters straight and who they worked for or connected to.
Aimee Leduc is trying to learn meditation and calm down her crazy life and help her damaged eyes recover when she is asked to deliver a check and pickup a package. While doing this favor the man she is meeting is killed and this sets off a series of events. She is trying to figure out who murdered the man and stole the jade that she was asked to pick up. Her business partner is kidnapped a one point and there are lots of bad guys hunting her. There are also some people who she is not sure if they are good or bad. The jade is from Vietnam and was found by some French troops during the war. There are some possibly Crooked business dealings happening and Aimee calls on friends in all ares in and out if the government to help her.
On top of everything she also is having problems with the guy she is dating. He doesn't approve of her doing in the field investigative work that puts her in danger.
Lots going on and a bit complicated. Good descriptions of the Clichy area of Paris.
