Would've been better if Nancy punched Brenda afterwards. But, overall, it's a fine, albeit ordinary, book.

As a young gal, I loved it. As an adult, I liked it. But I can tell it's written for a younger audience.

It's a bit dated as to expect but I'm glad I finally got around to start this series. Unfortunately my book ap don't have book two so I have to jump to the third. Don't know if this is the "original" start of Nancy Drew as it seems too be quite a few Nancy Drew series available

A quick note on Nancy Drew Files since this is the first book in the series... These stories are much more intense often featuring murder attempts, actual murder, guns, and significant danger to all those involved. They are also a lot more complex than the original Nancy Drew stories. There is also much more romance between Nancy and the male leads (sometimes Ned and sometimes not).

Although this one was good don't judge this particular subseries based on this book as it is my least rated one I have read so far (except for #45 which only got a 70/100).. The rest average between 88 and 94 with #31 Trouble in Tahiti being my favorite so far (99/100).

I read this book years ago when I went through a Nancy Drew phase. If I remember correctly, this is the one I was so excited to read because the guy on the cover was on Guiding Light at the time. :)
