Harper meets another Prima from another town since their football teams will be competing for the playoffs. Since she met Meredith and Caroline from the other team, she had many questions for them. Meredith wouldn’t answer the questions for her so she asked Caroline.

During a party Harper and Caroline used magic to make themselves look like each other and trade places for the evening. While everyone believed Harper was Caroline, she only tries to find out more about the Prima and the Coven. During the switch, someone attacks and kidnaps Caroline while she still looks like Harper. The only thing Harper saw in the room was blood and a crow with bright blue eyes. Harper comes across Caroline’s body and rescues her doing something that no other witch known of can do!

Since the kidnapping of Caroline, Harper created a list of possible suspects who might want her dead. One of those people lives in Shadowford with her. Deciding she needs to find out more of this persons background she sneaks into Mrs. Shadowford’s office to snoop. In doing so, she came across Jacksons file and just couldn’t resist! What she found out makes everything just that more complicated with Jackson than ever before.

Many questions were answers that I had before but now I have many more questions! My main one being as to who wants to kill Harper?

Good book to read, it was a fast read for me. There are twist and turns that you don’t really realize are coming.

I love how 90% of the important characters in this book are powerful women. The series has become more about Harper interacting with the Peachville coven and less about her high school life, as it was in the earlier books, which means she's dealing with many generations of women who inspire her, frustrate her, help her, harm her, and scare her. It was refreshing to read a book about a young woman so impacted by other women.

I absolutely adored this third book! Personally I found the first one was rather slow placed and conjured a lot of questions which it didn't have answers to, however in the next two it kept my attention thoroughly. Sadly I can't continue this saga as I've only got the first 3 as a box set, but when I get the money I'm definitely going to be buying the next few.
I did find Harper's mindset involving Jackson a bit annoying as she kept contradicting herself, but the developments of certain characters (cough Brooke cough Drake) were amazing I want to find out what happens!!

Adding a review for this as I've rated it without a review.

I remember reading this as one of the first fantasy YA novels. If I reread this I am not convinced I'd be as in love with it as I was when I read this in 2014. A lot of things have happened since. 2014 Was a very hard year for myself so all the reviews are showing up on the same date. I can't explain why they are, if the ratings are justice or accurate I can also not say when I truly read these. I'm just going to say 2014 on the same day added just to keep the year right if not the month...

Will definitely be reading the rest of the series. This chapter took a new twist but I think there’s something more sinister happening locally.

A little disappointed that my star rating never increased even through the reading of the first 3 books in the Shadow Demons Saga. I mean, I liked the story, it was an interesting read, and I like how we're slowly learning more about all the characters, but it's still not so amazing that I would give it four stars, let alone get the next 3 books with $$$.
