EDIT(after the 3rd book): So, tentatively, I'm changing the rating to 5 stars. Might change again after the end, we will see.
So... I really, REALLY liked this one! Like, a lot! It has exactly the type of weirdness and chaos that I love, with lots of absurd and crazy situations and great humor. It was wild in the best way possible, very unhinged and ridiculous - it was absolutely batshit insane. A-MA-ZING! Loved it!
And you know what? This book kinda reminded me of the first season of one of my favorite TV series - ‘Preacher’. You may ask, confused: “What?! How are they any similar?” Well, I didn't exactly say they are similar, now did I? It's mostly in the vibe (and the craziness) and… in the fact that they are both about a small, weird town in the middle of nowhere, with weird residents and even weirder (strange, absurd, unexplainable) things happening in that town. But! “Tales From The Gas Station” doesn't have that many religious themes; the main character is actually likeable; there is more supernatural; the humor, the absurdity and the weirdness are amped up and… it's on acid. (Not that I know much about that but…)
The result? It's absolutely DELICIOUS!
So, yeah. It was really great! I will definitely be reading other books.
It gets 4.75 stars for now but I might adjust the rating after finishing the series. (Yes, I do let the series as a whole affect the individual ratings a bit, it works best for me.)
Now, onto the second book!

Absurdity all over and characters so crazy and unhinged but it's still works. I would even say that it is why it is working.
It's fun to read and the main character is so blasé that he's taking every scarry events or absurd stuff like it's a normal day on earth.
Perfect dark sense of humor, loyal characters with loose moral who kind of stick together even with all the shit happening. Jack is a wacky, sarcastic and kind of unreliable narrator and all the customers of the gas station are their own kind of weirdness at cosmic level.
A great bizarre and hilarious cosmic comedic horror with a Neurospicy induced plot for a well written creepypasta horror series.
I'll definitely read the rest of the series soon.
