A lot of very interesting informations and arguments but it grew more and more into a very cis-hetero and monogamous centered plea for « The goddes array », which is not my kind of vibe in terms of sexuality research.

*slight spoiler? I guess?* I absolutely loathed the chapter where she interviews a *braces self* vagina guru *vomits*. I don’t care if she got into his stuff, stop giving credit to white cishet men that make a load of money by sexually massaging women to orgasm but refuse to be compared to sex workers while also using tantra like they invented it. I would have been fine with his practice if he called himself a sex therapist that does body work or a sex worker and didn’t mascarade behind cultural appropriation of tantra and new age bullshit.
The author herself mentions that he got « insulted » by her directly saying she didn’t want to have a « yoni massage » but would rather try the rest, cause she didn’t feel comfortable having sexual touch outside her monogamous relationship. He insisted but she held on. But then she sees no problem saying he made her feel safe and genuine??? Like wtf?

Anyways, I still enjoyed a lot of the research she cites and uses but the way she concluded about it made me write a lot « yikes » in the margins. Her foreword explaining she didn’t mean for her book to exclude any gender or sexual orientation helped me not stop my reading but it doesn’t change what some chapters or sections made me feel.
