- That "Santa's Scout" thing is super creepy. I would have nightmares if that thing was in my house moving around.

- The Net Kritterz cracked me up! I used to play Neopets, which is an online pet thing. I spent a lot of time on that website taking care of my pets. Good times! I wonder if my pets are still alive. I don't know if I could even log in anymore.

- Greg likes to take shortcuts for a lot of things. Hopefully he is learning from his mistakes, but I really doubt it.

- I keep thinking we are going to discover that Rowley is a bit slow, and he'll be sent to special ed or something.

- Another creepy thing in the book is Greg's Alfrendo doll. When he finds it towards the end, wow! That doll is messed up!

Another Christmas miracle! Finished Cabin Fever and I would say its my favorite so far. Some reviews from 8 years ago say this is a great book to read around the holidays so glad I’m hitting it at just the right time. Some highlights include Greg reminiscing on the doll he got before Manny was born, gift finagling, Greg being criminalized while trying to make money (there is always a plot point where he’s trying to make money and it costs him in some way). Also there’s always a point where the sentence structure goes something like this “[something promising and great is on the line] but [something catastrophic].” Greg creates a lot of his own misfortune, but he’s also doomed regardless of what he does so I guess it doesn’t matter. 6 down 12 to go.

There are some definite funny moments in this book, just like with every DOAWK, but something was really off about this book to me. Greg is in middle school. Why does he still believe in Santa?

Frank Heffley is so machista, as usual!
