An enjoyable read which was let down by a lacklustre ending. Actully the book has two major failings. The first is the ending which is, and this is its greatest sin, predictable and oddly anti-climatic. The second, and this is true of the vast majority of stories involving time travel, is that the details of time travel are poorly explained. Still the pacing is excellent and keeps the story moving quite well. The majority of the story is a nice mix of Groundhog Day and Starship Troopers. So I'd definitely recommend it. Its just a pity it falls down in the final stretch.

Even with the clunky exposition dump in the middle, this was still an awesome sci-fi story. Definitely worth a read, especially if you want a proper ending to Edge of Tomorrow.

I probably should give 3,4 but I want to give it 5. It was a good read. Now to see if Tom Cruise ruins it or not.

Something about the ranobe that's easily consumable. Honestly haven't had so much fun with a read in a while - not like this. Most of the time I have to force myself to get through a book. This was one of the rare ones I was looking forward to getting back to, so I finished it pretty quickly. Fun read with all the standard tropes of a Japanese ranobe, save the chikan underwear shot...

Do you know how some books can be almost as good as sex? This was one of those books. I can't believe someone could get so much plot and so many impressive twists in only 150 pages, but this guy did. Christ, I'm impressed.

Loved that it was very different from the movie. I also though the translation was well done

3.5.
This book is really well-written. Great translation. No two bizarre similes alike.

Not a dull moment... except the few dull moments, which weren't long, but the few there were really hindered my ability to read this quickly. I had to repeatedly try to get through the boring paragraphs again because it seems important details were slipped in the middle of them (and only part of the times, I was right). Other than that, the pacing was really fast and furious!

I can't remember my original predictions, but they weren't at all what I expected. Worth the read. Will I be disappointed in the movie?

My first "light novel," yay! This was really good. Hat's off to the author for his masterful writing, and to the translator who seems to have done an excellent job as well. What a great story and setting, too. I thought the "reliving the same day over and over" idea would get old quickly, but Sakurazaka did a great job making it feel fresh.

The author also did a fine job with that twist at the end and pulling the story full circle. I wasn't expecting that at all, but it was done really well. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that his ideas were pleasant surprises, right up until the end. I think Sakurazaka managed to fit more character and plot development into 200 pages than some authors do in a book twice as long.

I highly recommend this, and I'm looking forward to reading more of his work!

Note: I haven't seen the movie that was based off of this book, and I'm not sure I will. However, I know enough from googling a few things that it was a good idea to read the book before going anywhere near the movie. If you're thinking about reading this book, I would obviously suggest doing so before you watch the movie.
