3.5 stars | After reading & loving [b:A Single Breath|20820496|A Single Breath|Lucy Clarke|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1392569310s/20820496.jpg|25491349], I wanted to read another book by author Lucy Clarke. Many similarities existed between the 2 books (a mystery unfolding, "not really knowing" someone close to you, etc.) but this one fell a little flat for me. The premise was interesting and it certainly was a page turner, but as a whole the characters seemed under developed and several plot twists seemed outlandish. Still an enjoyable read, but a bit uneven.

I love sibling stories, love Lucy Clarke's writing and her beachy settings as well

I definitely prefer Clarke’s thrillers. The twists and turns just don’t work as well in a book ostensibly about a suicide. Some of the plot was a bit heavy handed, and the fiancé character didn’t feel fully rounded. I never fully understood some of Mia’s self destructive tendencies either. Good concept for a book, engaging, but wish it had been executed better.
