I read this book over two sittings and IT WAS SO GOOD. I knew I was going to like it, but I really loved it. It's dark, suspenseful, gruesome, and just some damn good storytelling overall.

I am so impressed with Rachel Caine's ability to excel in multiple genres. I adore her Great Library series, but it's so different from this that I honestly couldn't tell it was the same author. She is incredibly talented.

I am so excited that this book will be a series. I really liked the characters and the setting. Gwen makes mistakes, but she is powerful and headstrong. I thought the killer was going to be someone different, and I still really like my idea, but the resolution is acceptable. I wish there would have been more information, but I assume that will come in the next book. I think this book could have been longer to give more depth to certain aspects. This book is really a 4.5⭐ for me because of how abrupt the ending is. I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars because I loved the book so much.

Stillhouse Lake has the same vibe as Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. Pretty Girls was gorier, but I think if you enjoyed that book, you'll like Stillhouse Lake. I can't believe I have to wait until December for Killman Creek!

I really enjoyed this book! It was gripping, constantly moving forward, and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved not knowing who to trust (even when it came to the narrator). There were some moments when I really did not like Gwen and her choices, but I think that added to the overall novel.

I'm not a huge fan of series, so I'm not eager to jump to the next book. I may wait awhile before I come back. All the same, I would definitely recommend this if you're into mystery and thrillers.
