Ugh. I had great love for parts of this book. Lane above all characters was my favorite. Gracie's sister Mercy was on my last nerve. Too many characters thrown into this first book - my head was swirling.

Review to come..... I am a devoted Nicole Edwards fan and it seriously kills me to give this book 3 stars. I need to process it before writing a review.

I love the way Nicole Edwards writes and yes, her books are hot but they are also interesting and they always tell a great story. This takes place after Boots Optional, which you need to read first. Gracie, Grant and Lane are together and trying to make it work. Every day life is getting in the way of them spending time together and then a few obstacles get thrown in there. Grace and Grant are keeping secrets. Lane is an open book and he is trying to get everyone to open up and just be in the relationship. He knows what he wants and he wants Gracie and Grant. They have to sneak around and it takes a toll on all of them. Can they put their pasts behind them and truly love each other? Can the three of them make this relationship work with out wondering what everyone else is going to think? Lane is hot! He's smooth, loving and funny. He knows what he wants and he goes after it. Grant is used to keeping his feelings hidden and he's afraid to admit how he feels. Gracie is sassy and stubborn and she's trying to find a way to tell her family. We meet all of Grace's sisters and they all have something going on! I can't wait until the next book!!

Lane knew that life was too short to hold out for something that he recognized was unavoidable. He would do anything for Grant and Gracie. Anything. Including giving his life for them. That's how he knew it was love.

As usual, the way Lane's hand palmed Grant's head possessively had Grant surrendering to Lane's merciless tongue.

God had taken out all the stops when he's made Grant. Tall and lean, the man had the perfect amount of muscle - not enough that he was bulky but plenty to show just how much hard work he put in each day.

"I thought you wanted to talk, " Grant bit out, trying desperately to keep his voice low.
"No, what I really wanna do it punch you in the mouth." Lane disputed.

Hot and steamy as always!

Nicole Edwards does not disappoint at all in the first novel in the Dead Heat Ranch series!

As with the prequel, Boots Optional, Betting on Grace starts off with a bang and never stops!

It's very hard to put down and you really just root for these three dealing with their busy lives and highly sexual relationship.

Grace, Grant, and Lane have such sexual chemistry together and are thoroughly entertaining to read about.

I'm already in love with the whole Lambert family and can't wait to read more about them!!

This was really hard for me to choose a rating. I'm going to say it's actually 3.5 stars. I loved the main characters; Gracie, Lane, and Grant. I loved Grace's sisters and her dad. The reader is introduced to tons of characters in this story...ranch hands, guests on the ranch, etc. All of them are great characters. This is something Nicole Edwards does in her stories that I generally don't mind. I like all of the crossover and seeing what's going on in everyone's life. But since this was the first book of the series (excluding the .5 book which is about the same main characters) it seemed too many too soon. Especially since I know there's not another book out yet.

Since I knew before I started this book that it was published two years ago and there is not yet a follow up book, every time I was introduced to a new character or storyline I was bummed to realize I wouldn't be reading their whole story any time soon. I want to know why Mercy is reacting the way she is to her father. I want to know what really happened to Trinity. Is Ben going to move to the ranch? So many questions. It speaks well of the author's writing that I get so pulled into the character's lives. It's just disappointing to know I'm going to be unsatisfied for who knows how long.

The fact that Dead Heat Ranch is brought up numerous times in the last Alluring Indulgence book, Brendon, had me hoping to not only get to know the cast of characters on the ranch, but also hoping to see some of the Walker brothers again.

That all being said, I did enjoy this book and the characters. I just wish I could get to know the rest of the family better.
