Oh my god, this book! I am such a huge fan of Why Choose romances, and this has to be one of the best I’ve ever read! The characters are all captivating, from the self-destructive Zara to the mysteries that swirl around Alex, Ben, Will, and Gabriel.

I could not put this down. The detail in this is so lush, from the descriptions of the room and food to the characters - it is dripping in luxury and such a pleasure to read. Charlotte’s writing is beautiful. There’s so much sweet tension between Zara and the Cardinals, you will absolutely be on the edge of your seat for more than one reason!! And I loved the world-building and relationships in this. Everything feels so lived-in and the Found Family is absolutely *chef’s kiss*

I loved how messy Zara was, I haven’t read a lot of books where the FMC has struggled (not to this level). Everything made sense as to why she coped the way she did, you definitely root for her. And then how she’s begun to meld in their world, the way she connects with each of them at their own level, it was so exciting to see how each facet develops.

Very much looking forward to the next book!! I have so many questions and things I am curious about (esp with Baron, and that ending!) and also really interested in seeing the relationships develop more. 💖

If you enjoy a good reverse harem with a group of mafia men and a damsel in distress then this is the book for you. Pope (Alex), Wraith (Gabriel), Reaper (Will) and Eros (Ben) are easy to fall in love with right away for the tortured souls that they are. Then there is Zara who has so many demons to overcome as she’s been thrust into a world she’s only read about and now has to quickly learn how to navigate it to survive and hopefully thrive. The descriptions of the opulence in the world the author has built is beguiling. I enjoyed the variety in her use of religion for the different factions over the typical use of Italian, Russian or Irish mafia. Very creative and easy to imagine.  The spice between the characters was just enough and the tension was perfection. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I eagerly await for the next one in the series.
