One of the best horror books I have read this year. An eerie overlap between reality, the dark history of Pearl Harbour, COVID and fiction.

Meiko wonders if Aiko can differentiate between reality and fantasy, I wonder if I can still distinguish the real world from this book. I had a nightmare related to the book and I think that's all that needs to be said about the success of this horror. The fact that it is such a grim mirror to today's world when it is supposed to be set during WWII is what's even more terrifying.

This was an enjoyable read that did have some darker aspects. Unfortunately, I felt like I was waiting almost the whole book for the other shoe to drop and for things to ramp up, and they did for a minute, but not really long enough to leave an impact.
