Un análisis amplio sobre qué es el género y cómo se conforma, a través de una crítica lectura a Freud, a Beauvoir, a Foucault. Butler plantea que el género es, más que algo inherente al ser de las personas algo que se desarrolla en sus acciones, de ahí que lo planteé como performático y que el feminismo no puede plantear el género (femenino) como algo esencial ya que dinamita su lucha misma.
