I was hoping it would lean more into the questions of how to support yourself and your mental space during a world on fire and less on actual craft of writing, but I really appreciated reading this!
Very enjoyable and insightful book. One of my favorite things about it is how the author says, "I've found that when I..." or some other variation. Not just a, "you should try this" or "this might be the problem." It's a reminder that, "hey, I'm also a writer, and I've ran into this problem, so maybe I can help you if you have too." I appreciate that.
Good for writer workshops. Did a good job of making bringing some techniques or knowledge from the subconscious to consciousness

I was reading this book to reignite my passion for writing and it did just that. The author has great voice which in itself is worth the read. The advice got to be a bit repetitive at times, and although sci-fi isn’t my realm of reading and writing I appreciate the perspective. Overall a good read for aspiring writers or any writers of any sort!
This is the only writing guide I've ever read that's made me feel warm and fuzzy. It's part solid writing guide, part cheerleading, part memoir and overall feels like chatting with an old friend who's reminding you "You can do this! You do you!" I didn't think any particular piece of writing advice in the book was revolutionary, but I really enjoyed the gentle and encouraging tone. Next time I'm ready to do some creative writing, I'll probably pull Never Say You Can't Survive off my shelf.
