The second book in the series was just as good as I remember it. I did not like the second book as much as the first however it was stil enjoyible. The thing I loved about this book was the adition of Rick as he was misscheavous and very funny. I liked some of the scrapes he got people into.

Enid Blyton knows exactly how to reel me in at ages 7 and ages 23 apparently! Oh to live by this Enchanted Wood and be able to go up a tree into magical worlds, I honestly think I need that kind of escapism now more than ever. Our child protagonists are neither here nor there; I would have pushed Joe down the slippery slip and left him there I can tell you that much- sick of his goody two shoes antics and his food shaming of Rick, my chaotic king. As with most of Enid's books, the girls are well... girls. They do the ironing and darning and the lads do the gardening and table fixing. Their house must have been the most well ordered cottage in the whole village! This book has a little less danger than the third instalment with the mystery of the tree getting sick which terrified me as a child, but theres still enough novelty to keep me going even that my ancient age.

I don't remember reading this book but I might've read it as a child. I don't remember many books that I read in my childhood. It's a fun read and definitely a great book to read for children.

I forgot just how annoying Rick and Joe are. It’s funny Joe was so self righteous in this book bc in the previous book he was behaving exactly like Rick.

Didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first, but it was still a good nostalgic read.
