This book was a solid memoir. I do wish that the writing style had more personality as I felt that a ton of information was loaded on me at times. I did find the timeline and sections of the book helpful in understanding Sarah's story and breaking down the important parts of her imitation into the cult.

It’s hard to rate a non fiction memoir. Sarah’s lived experiences are fascinating and I think it is a good book to highlight how one can get wrapped up in a cult. I personally found the timelines of the writing a bit confusing and harder to follow than other memoirs I have read but that could be due to the trauma. Overall an important book and would recommend but lost some points for my personal enjoyment factor.

If you just finished watched The Vow on HBO, I highly recommend reading Sarah's book to get her full story. I first heard about the NXIVM cult from a podcast Sarah did for a high school friend. It blew my mind! I admire her courage on finally bringing this weird cult into the public's eye. I see a lot of reviews saying this book is choppy with its writing. I didn't get that feeling at all. I did listen to it, so that might have been why. Sarah does a wonderful job narrating and you can hear the emotion is her voice, especially when she is talking about Lauren.
