I like it, it's my guilty pleasure. The romances that are just textbook romance. It both is and isn't dated but definitely a product of the time is small ways, but it's not a mark against it.

Christmas stories, cozy romances, minimal spice

I always like when an author follows a family through time. I have gotten acquainted with this family through the grandchildren. I'm now interested in reading the original books in the series.

The meddler is back.

I'm not sure, but I think I already read this book, as there was enough in each story that sounded familiar. But I read it anyway because Roberts is the consummate story teller.

There are three novellas--one for each of Daniel MacGregor's granddaughters. The first--"Laura--was my least favorite because the heroine is a lawyer & I don't like attorneys. (I know, I know, it's cliched, but....) Anyway, I don't care how much integrity you have or how much you care about people, Laura just being a lawyer was enough to set me on edge. This novella was the most bland of the three, although the hero--Royce--did have his moments.

The third--"Julia"--was my second favorite. There was more tension and excitement in this story and the reason it wasn't my favorite is because I'm non-confrontational by nature, and although it sometimes adds to the reader's enjoyment when there's a more combative nature to a couple's relationship, I just can't see wanting to be in this kind of a relationship in real life. This novella reminded me of some of the movies made in the 1940s--you know the ones with Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant or Jimmy Stewart, or Claudine Colbert and Clark Gable--where the two main characters are combative and confrontational, but fall in love anyway, right?

My favorite novella was "Gwendolyn" because of the hero, Branson. What woman wouldn't want a successful man who has money to splurge on all sorts of expensive gifts for her? But more importantly, what woman wouldn't want a man who was as inventive as Branson, and persistent, but also caring? But in reality, I don't think such a man exists, sad to say, so we readers have to live vicariously through the writings of Nora Roberts. Thank goodness we have someone who writes with her heart, and writes so well to make up for what we're not getting in real life!

I love these stories. The MacGregors are so special, these novellas made into one overall story with Daniel MacGregor as the narrator and mastermind are awesome and hysterical. For all his issues and he has plenty he is my favorite.
lighthearted fast-paced

Short novella. I love all the couples. Julia and Cullum are my faves though.
