I sped through this book in one day cause I literally couldn't put it down! I was so invested in the story that I couldn't stop thinking about it whenever I was forced to take a break to do a chore or something. 
the ending was such a big shock for me!

The domestic abuse sub-plot is fairly mild, as in we only hear shouting and there's one fight witnessed outside. The book talks a bit about people having sex, but it's not *too* descriptive

The structure of the book is delightfully unique! Little snippets of the main character’s notebook provide a sense of personal connection with her. To understand the story completely, read The Little Prince and Flowers for Algernon first. Then you’ll understand the context which they are mentioned.

Audiobook - 3 hours 21 minutes - I found this a bit boring to be honest. I did read this when I was about 13 and remember enoying it more than I did now so maybe its just that I'm reading this book now as an adult. I cared about the characters to a certain extent, but I can't say I was ever fully engaged with them. A lot of the book I just felt I was waiting for something to happen, which I guess could be intentional on the author's part, to represent the experience of the main character, but it doesn't change the fact that it was boring to read about. I much preferred Yoon's next book, The Sun is Also a Star.

A quick read.  The foreshadowing in the beginning of the book was blatantly ovibous but I didn't see the plot twist coming.  I also didn't expect a sex scene and wished it wasn't in there.  It was fun nonetheless, much different than my usual reads.  I will add that if depictions of abusive families bother you probably don't read this book, it's not graphic but it's there.

Le fait que la mère ait inventé sa maladie m'a déçu. Il y a déjà si peu de représentations du handicap (hors les méchants et/ou gens dangereux) dans les livres, c'est pas pour que les seules qu'on ait soient des fausses au final...
