Short version - decent third book. Pretty formulaic by now, but with an emotional cliffhanger for Valkyrie. Still witty but a bit darker this time around so less room for those kinds of interactions.

Again, Would have incredibly loved this as a child/tween. another improvement on the last one, Love how everyone has a bigger hate-boner for skullduggery in this one, and how they ask steph/val to reflect more on her choice to be involved in this magical world. But I still feel we didn't get enough of an exploration of skulduggery and val's relationship. The progression of the "evil villain" plots in these books are way too simple, again something I would've enjoyed more when I was younger. Might revisit this world in the future but here is as good a stopping point as any other.
