Not as witty as the previous two books, but still an exciting read with a major cliffhanger and opportunity for Valkyrie to learn some new magical skills: necromancy.

If you've read the previous Skulduggery Pleasant books you'll probably have a pretty good idea what to expect. A fun read, if you liked the previous books you'll like this one.

Derek Landy is just so good at progressing his story. As a children's book (middle-grade/high-school), it is entertaining and action-packed. If the dialogue was a touch more sophisticated and the characters backgrounds more fully fleshed out, you wouldn't even suspect this is a children's series!
Skulduggery is a series that rarely disappoints in terms of fun and this book is no exception. In the past I have stated that while this book is easy to read, it is by no means for the age range it states. And that is still true. It gets a tad violent for little kids, but for an older reader, it's a lot of fun.
All the characters from the previous novel are here and they're on another save the world adventure and it's just as much fun as the previous two books.
If i were to give this book a real rating, I would give it a 4.5 but since it doesn't allow halves, it gets a 4. It isn't good ENOUGH to get a perfect score, but it's still a lot of fun. This is one of those books that's hard to put down and you want to keep reading to see what happens.
Some book series get a bit boring as you continue on, but this one is just as good as the first. I can't wait to read the 4th book in the series. Looking forward to it.
