I generally don’t read Christian fiction. However, some years ago I was experiencing a lot of anxiety and couldn’t seem to concentrate on any heavy reading. At my library I stumbled upon Karen Kingsbury’s “Redemption” series about the Baxter family. It was easy and quick for me to read and made me feel like I had accomplished something. This eased my anxiety some.
I am also the type of person who likes sequels, prequels, backstories, whatever gives me more depth to the story. Because of this, I have kept up with this author’s books about the Baxter family, regardless of which generation we’re talking about.
This book serves as a prequel to the Redemption series, and can be read on its own as well. The stories are pretty simple and predictable with plenty of descriptions. If you need to read for comfort and don’t a deep, intricate story, this would be the book for you.
Thank you to Atria Books and Edelweiss for an advanced copy of this book in return for my unbiased opinion of this book.

Found out the author is a hard core Christian that works at Liberty University. Will be burning this book now hell nah.

I loved getting to re visit my favorite family 3.5 stars ❤️ I really enjoyed seeing the Baxters from the very beginning however I wouldn’t start with this book I’d start with one of the others. I was hoping for more of the start of Elizabeth and John to be honest.

Not going to lie I struggle with the fact one of my favorite authors believes it was right for the ROE to be over turned. I’m just going to have to superstar the books form the author like I do with Harry Potter. I love Karen’s books and have since high school but we both have very different views on women and their reproductive rights or just rights in general.

I really enjoyed this book.

This follows the Baxter family before the events of the other books. It takes place at Kari's wedding to Tim.

It was a good read. I loved getting to see where they all were at before the other Baxter books.

It was interesting story and I really enjoyed being back with these characters.

I really enjoy reading about this family.
