the thing is... the story is fun. But I just really don't like Chrysantha.
I didn't like her in the first book, I didn't like her in this. And I had 0 connection with Eryx either. Which made it an okay read, but not a great one

This entire book was pointless. I was really bored reading this until 75%...when we learned the truth about everything. Everything these characters were doing annoyed the shit out of me. Everyone is so unlikeable. but especially the main characters. The romance felt forced and like it came out of no where. How do you expect me to believe these two love each other when all they do is hurt one another? Makes zero sense. I am glad to be done with this duet, but honestly please do not bother reading it. It is a waste of time. The writing is mid at best and the plot is predictable. Only reason im giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because the side characters were great. But that is it! Garbage book!

Eryx our fashion queen who owns two pair of jeans and Chrysantha keeps making fun of him for that and the fact that she's a few months older than him

I was shocked when I found out that she was making a sequel. At first I was hesitant to read this book because it centered around Chrysantha, the absolutely dimwitted lightheaded snobby older sister of Alessandra. Obviously, when I started reading the book, I found out that wasn't the case and the author does a great job of showing nuances in her character. She gave Chrysantha a unique and likable personality while still maintaining the integrity of Alessandra's from the first book (looking at you SJM). In fact, my favorite part about this book are the characters. I just adore them, maybe even more than the first book.

However, what this book does lack compared to its prequel is a strong plotline. There is plot, but I was kind of disappointed with Eryx's backstory and I really think she could have made a more compelling story. The leadup to it was great, but his reveal was underwhelming, and it didn't feel like there was anything else to it after that. The ending felt rushed (like everything was concluded in the very last chapter) and idk, it just fell flat.

Still giving it 4 stars because GOD. I just love Chrysantha and Eryx.

Honestly so surprised at how much I liked this! It was really like a 4.5 but I rounded up.

I wish we got some more love scenes but the ones we got were great. I hope there’s a novella or something in the works cause I need more of them for sure
