i dont think i can talk about this book right now

- lgbtqiap+, ya contemporary, loss, family, mental health
- ....
- nonbinary mc (he/ they), bi brown sc, trans vietnamese sc who is bi, and other queer characters

this is not a coming out story, let's start there.
it is a story about grief and healing. it is the kind of story that stayed with me a long time after i put the book down. it's the kind that made me feel vulnerable even though ive never lost a loved one and made me care and grieve for characters i came to know within the short time i read this book.

what stayed with me the most is the relationship liam shared with their brother and the heartbreak that comes with losing your bestfriends. we dont talk about grief as the complex emotion it is, which is why it often fools us into thinking it's not and the way the author has portrayed the nuances of it, it resonated with me on a deeply personal level.

tgwk is not an easy book to read, it was hard to watch liam struggle with the loss of a loved one as well as their mental health. it was hard to watch these other people get affected by the same if not in a similar way, pick up the pieces and try to make a life out if it, but most importantly they are trying and working towards healing, and that is good enough.
hence, i feel the best way to describe this book is by saying that it allows you to grieve which is not something we get to see in most ya books, so am glad mason deaver wrote this story. a much needed one for themself that created an impact on so many of us at the same time. am grateful for the existence of yet another one of their book and it's going to stay with me for a long time.
