In Mia Sheridan's new novel, she ventures into dystopian fiction, which appears to be different from her previous books. A love story that unfolds by a strong connection and undeniable chemistry between the two main characters. I was engaged from the first page. She explores themes of appreciation and gratitude, leading us to reflect on the simple things in life that often take for granted. With a narrative that makes it hard to put down, this book is a must-read. Overall, it stands out as a thought-provoking book with adventures and survival.

This book was a real mix. The first 10%, I was like "what on earth am I reading?" with the time jumps and the apocalypse not happening. But when it kicked off, it was pretty epic. Great juxtapositions of capitalist excess and humanity's basic survival needs.

The FMC and MMC are suitably confused about their own history and I really enjoyed the slow burn of their romance.

I did think the final conflict was a bit unnecessary, but I enjoyed
them coming back together.

Heart of the Sun definitely gave me The Last of Us vibes and while it wasn’t my favorite Mia Sheridan book I did find her take on a post apocalyptic world interesting.  I’m not quite sure what it was missing for me but it didn’t have that same draw I’ve felt when I’ve read her other books.

It’s still worth the read if you are a Mia Sheridan fan or like apocalyptic movies/books.

Thank you publishers and netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback
