I set myself up for failure with this one. What did I expect from a book with the old school art on the cover? I HOPED we'd get to see an evolved Ivy, one with more substance than she is usually given. We did not get that.

While there was a few positive notes in regard to Ivy - Batman made it clear that it wasn't her fault she became the way she is now, as well as protecting plants is a good thing - the rest of her was a mess. Her motivation was weak and her reactions were a throwback to the days when her entire character was a pouty, mad woman that needed Batman to take care of her, for she didn't know what was best for herself.
Honestly, I had hoped we would never see that Ivy again, with all the growing she got to do in comics a few years ago, but I guess I was wrong (but not surprised).
And on characters, both Batman/Bruce and Robin/Tim were pretty flat rags as well, so I'm not impresses.

The writing was choppy and repetative, and there were so many logical holes and technical randomness that I almost threw the book across the room. I see now that it was most likely written for a younger audience - in which case I think the portail of Ivy is even worse - but it was marketed as an adult read. At least it wasn't long.

And on a personal note: I WAS ABLE TO READ A PHYSICAL BOOK. THE FIRST ONE IN MONTHS. The large writing probably helped a lot ^^'
