3.5 ⭐️ I didn't know this was a series! this isn't the first book, but it definitely works as a standalone if you're not looking to start it from the beginning with book one. the writing was upbeat and light and definitely a good book to get you out of a reading slump. The only thing I can't ever seem to enjoy is a cheating plot, cheating just doesn't do it for me. Yet, I loved the characters and everything else. I love the writing style, this author is definitely someone I'd read from again. Really quick and easy read which is perfect! I like something I can get through in one sitting, it's what I always gravitate towards. Could see myself going for more books by this author! Just wish the cheating trope didn't exist (just not for me, but if you enjoy it then I recommend this book!). I Wish Jade broke off her relationship sooner. Really loved River. Really think some people would enjoy it, especially the banter.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book just wasn't my favorite. While it had the potential to be a cute romcom: friends-to-lovers, dual POV (my favorite), 80s and 90s references, and the slowest burn ever, there was just too much missing for me to be invested in our main characters and root for their HEA.

If you like super fluffy, no real tension, and a slightly immature leading lady (when it comes to relationships), you may enjoy this more than I did.

Dual POV with two eccentric but lovable and sincere personalities who are both night owls and creatives. Despite all the anxiety about the awful Connor, I loved how well Jade and River clicked as a couple. There are many aspects in this story that have the potential to be depressing, yet Jade and River's affection for one another is endearing. I laughed aloud at the interplay between Jade and River and a few lines from supporting characters. I grinned at the respect and love they displayed for one another. Because everything emanated from their hearts and the depth of their passion, I smiled even during the emotional times. An adorable couple that isn't only falling in love is Jade and River but who are also learning to understand what love is
