This book was so beautifully 90s. Dial up Internet, AOL (sorry Web Access America) and chatrooms. It really feels like we're getting deeper into the war with the Yeerks in this one.

On an additional note, this is either the last book of the series I ever got to read or the first of the rest of the series that I never got to read because Waterstones told me it bad gone out of print in the UK. Excited to start reading the Animorphs books I never got to read.

I have zero recollection of this book. On reread, this is one of my favorites so far. If any book proves how much Animorphs needs to happen in the 90s - it's this one.

A fun internet sleuthing adventure, where they find conspiracy chatrooms that know about the Yeerk invasion. Y'all. The dial up. The AOL stand in. The Bill Gates guy. The weird wild west culture of the early internet where everyone was anonymous but super careless despite how worried we were about internet predators. Imagine thinking it would be safe to just search for "Yeerk" today! Also when you could just walk into planes nbd.

And of course the expected outta nowhere horrific shit like cannibalism and slicing people's skulls open.

MacLeod Andrews was exceptional as the narrator for this audiobook btw. Really distinct voices - felt like listening to a radio drama.

i love Andrews' voice for the billionaire.
this is one of the darker
episodes for sure, but also a very funny and and valuable time capsule. every kid born in the 21st century should read this book just for the internet and airport scenes.

Fun to see all the dated internet stuff, and this one was quite dark and serious as well
