I enjoyed these stories about friends, family, and generosity. Most of them take place through the eyes of children. I listened in audiobook form, but one of the narrators (male) had an extremely annoying voice. So I would have preferred to read it if my library had had it. Made it better to listen during the time of Ramadan even though I am not Muslim and as I will be travelling to a Muslim majority country soon and it gave me more of an insight into what Ramadan and Eid entails.

Once Upon an Eid is yet another collection of stories that I have read that focuses on Muslim characters preparing for the event or narrates their experiences during/before Eid. There were lighthearted moments; it definitely made my heart feel warm and put a smile on my face─however some heavy topics were discussed, yet it didn't break my focus at all. Every story that was written showcases a different perspective of Eid and how several cultures would celebrate it uniquely. I'm sure some of you would be able to resonate with some of the stories here, depending on where you're from.
As an adult i really enjoy this book. And it realize me something i never do while celebrating eid. Adorable stories ✨✨
Tomorrow, 31st March 2025, is Eid Fitr in Indonesia. This book is the perfect book to learn the beauty and the diversity of Eids around the world within the Muslim community. As Indonesian, the story by Hanna Alkaf called Taste is the closest thing of Eid Fitr in Indonesia through the sameness in food varieties.
This book made me cry and laugh and warm my heart. I will definitely read this book all over again when the next Eid come, InshaAllah.

I enjoyed reading this while waiting for eid; not only did it make me anticipate the arrival of eid more, i also learned some lessons along the children in this book.
