Very slow read. I was not a huge fan of the story. It seemed very bland and not exciting. I dreaded wanting to finish the read

1.5 stars. I am a huge Ted Lasso fan. The hero of this book reminded me of him and then in the acknowledgments, Tessa Bailey said that’s who he was modeled after. That being said- I didn’t like the hero. I didn’t like the heroine. I have really come to realize that I don’t like Tessa Bailey books.
I read this book as part of my cozy Christmas reading, which it definitely was that. I loved the setting of the department store and the window displays. It made me want to go back to NYC to see them. I just wished that the characters had been different. I was never invested in either of these at all and it was a struggle to get through the book. I hated the whole power dynamic of the couple of him being her boss and giving her a job. Even though Aiden kept addressing it, it still felt wrong to me. I also wasn’t invested in their love story in general. They saw each other a couple of times. And then couldn’t live without each other.
I like spicy books but parts of this one were making me cringe. I think the best part of the book was this one line at how incredibly cheesy it was: “I’ve never turned on my Christmas tree and matching garland for anyone, that’s damn sure.”
If you like Tessa Bailey, you’d probably like this book. It had the opposites attract and grumpy vs sunshine factor. I just wasn’t a fan.

Gah! This is a perfect read! Who doesn’t like a cuddly bear hero who’s nasty in the sheets? No hands in the air? That’s what I thought.
I’m about to expire from mushiness.

If you're looking for classic Tessa Bailey "spice" this book has it. I had to suspend reality for many of the jumps in plot, and the conflict was predictable. In this one she's the grump and he's the sunshine. Not my favorite Tessa Bailey but if you're reading her books for for the "spicey" scenes this book certainly has them.

I didn’t care for this that much. It was fine but I thought everything was just too fast for me to believe it and want to root for it.
