I love Hall’s poetry and his prose about the New Hampshire farm where he spent most of his life. This is a lovely holiday read.

A Child’s Christmas in Wales for the rural NE. Very nostalgic. Made me remember my own country winter memories.

A lovely little Christmas story told by the former poet laureate, Donald Hall. It reminds me if my grandparents' stories about living on farms at this same time. Evokes the smell of wood smoke and the sound of falling snow.

Christmas hyyge. Comforting and peaceful. The author’s note at the end is the most rewarding.

The best Christmas stories are all about nostalgia, and this novella by a former U.S. Poet Laureate, with its plainspoken language and dreamy depictions of rural New England in 1940, does not disappoint.
