This is my least favorite of the series thus far. I think it because I have not read any of the Jack Horner books so I was a bit confused at first by the crossover and who these new characters were. Even the main villain was someone I had never heard of and frankly never cared much for. I didn't get his motivation for wanting to unmake the entire universe or even why he had the power to do so. Bigby and Snow were sent to take care of the problem even though they have insane problems back at the farm to take care of. The only thing that saved this half of the story was Bigby being turned into a monkey, then a pink circus elephant, and finally the most pissed off little girl in a pink dress I have ever seen.

All the while Snow and Bigby are off going after the villain, Jack Horner is at the farm causing untold problems. The animals even think he is some kind of Boy Blue reincarnated, which is insane since Jack has been around as long as Boy Blue, but they can't seem to understand that. Jack actually spends most of his time in Rose Red's bed who now annoys me more than any other character. I just don't think Rose even deserves to be depressed. She threw Blue away without any consideration and now wants to be the victim?? Please.

Overall I feel this installment can be skipped and really that great of an addition to the series.

The Great Fables Crossover brings all the characters of Fabletown and the Farm together with their greatest nemesis-- Jack. The one, the only, the trickster of many faces, Jack of Fables has discovered he's half Literal and named himself a six-star general of a new war-- one against Kevin Thorn, whose pen is so powerful it can unwrite the world.

A fun story that occasionally lagged-- I was glad when Jack got his own book so that I didn't have to read about him anymore. By far the best part of the story was the discussion of the Literals, include Mr. Revise, Gary the Pathetic Fallacy and the Page Sisters, ass kicking librarians of justice. I'll be glad to get back to the long-term arc, but this was fun and witty.

I really just can't stand Jack. This one was fun, but pales next its immediate predecessors.

By far the absolute worst volume of the series so far. Absolutely miserable, and if I didn't think there was better things coming I would be DNFing the entire series. What a slog.
