Creepy but I wish it was longer and had a bit more backstory about the girl.

Creepy idea, but I feel like there should have been at least a little bit more substance.

I'm torn between three and four stars on this one. On the one hand, it is really well written. On the other hand, I feel like it both starts and finishes in the middle. I would have loved to see more of a build-up, and likewise, I wouldn't have minded seeing how far Brian Evenson could push the plot.

A creepy idea. I wouldn't like to bump into either of the two-half girls.
Very short, but probably the right length for the material.

This isn't a story per se which is why I have knocked off one star, it is more of an exercise in surrealism that tapers off without any real meaning. I have learned to expect this from Brian Evenson (and i am. Not a fan of this technique) but it world better in an ultrashort piece than in his longer works, where it is difficult for a reader to not feel cheated. Evenson is simply amazing at crafting atmosphere and the unnerving details in this short piece really elevate the story as they come out, bit by bit. Highly recommended.
