Costed me a bit of money (and my boyfriend thought I was a bit crazy to buy it for that price, even I thought I was crazy a bit), but it is more then worth it. Lemony Snicket (my favourite author) and Jon Klassen (one of my favourite illustrators) working together. :)
Loved this book. :)

What a wonderful children’s book. Its gift is its empathy. It never pooh-poohs the child for being afraid of the dark; it takes this fear seriously and portrays the dark in all its creepiness. But it also gently suggests that Laszlo has what he needs to confront the dark - and even that the dark can be a benevolent figure. This book is a keeper.
I wish I had had this book when I was little. It's a very moody book with a sweet message. Check out my full review: http://kidlit101.com/2013/07/09/how-to-conquer-your-fear-of-the-dark/

Reminds me of Stitches: A Memoir. If anyone knows how to personify the dark, it's Lemony Snicket and Jon Klassen.
A great story about being afraid of the dark that makes for a fun time in preschool storytime!
