As an allegory for unnamed bigotry, I found this story to be really upsetting. Friends of a marginalized character put that character into a room, by surprise, with someone who wanted to kill them. This is so incredibly harmful and does *not* teach a good lesson about how to handle violence against marginalized people and groups. I was also dismayed by the casual stereotyping of fat people; though there were a few neutral larger-bodied characters, they were mostly negative. The main antagonist is a large-bodied, ignorant, violent bully.

All that said, the book is well-written despite how much it upset me. The illustrations are lovely, again despite how much the book upset me. I can see many people enjoying this if they are not in a marginalized group who gets treated poorly like the marginalized character is treated in the book.
