I've spent the last few years convinced that once I got to the Brandon Sanderson books, I would enjoy this series more. I was proven right, but perhaps not for the reasons I thought.
I do believe that the amount of gender commentary was greatly reduced in this book, and that definitely increased my enjoyment, but I think I also came at this book from a new perspective. The TV show has reignited my love for this world and these characters and see them in a new light.

So, I don't know if I could tell the difference between Jordan and Sanderson's writing. The switch feels fairly seamless to me, although I know other longtime WOT fans don't agree.
Egwene and Rand were the main focuses of this book, and both of them had very profound and epic moments. There were a lot of references to the first book, reflecting on how much each character had changed, that made me feel nostalgic and really drove home the tragedy of being a "Chosen One."

So I had my doubts about this book when I started reading the prologue as I noticed the contrast between Jordan's writing style immediately. Sanderson's style seems much more accessible ( which isn't a con for me ) while it also had terms that looked out of place, like medical aid, institution, etc. so I wondered if I would find the transition too jarring to accept.

I didn't and oh my god, what a fricking rollercoaster it was!!

The best compliment I can give this book, explain how I felt reading it altogether is that it made me reassess my entire rating system! It made me think whether the books in my current favorites-shelf deserve their spots or not ( which they do but this one was on another level! ). It made my heart skip a couple of beats sometimes, it made me cry / teary-eyed twice and that's not something that happens often, books or not. It was such a wild ride with fast paced events one after another, especially when it comes to Rand who is prominently featured alongside Egwene. I think Sanderson got almost everyone and everything right considering the weight he had on his shoulders and the only one who I found atleast a bit uncharacteristic is Mat, where his humour felt a bit forced but he only had 4-5 chapters anyway. As eager as I am to jump into the next book, I don't wanna start it tonight as I feel the need to process and savour everything. It was all a bit too much for me to digest, although I mean that in the best way possible.
