Inspiring stories of overcoming past struggles

Infuriating past struggles that are STILL being used to harm the community today

It’s a lot of information, and can be very overwhelming, but it’s a lot of history to cover.

This is primarily a review of chapter 6 of this book, as I’m working on a project about Anita Bryant at the moment. Faderman’s writing is very in depth and well argued but struggles from a bit of bloating. I was also shocked that she essentially erased the fact that Anita Bryant had essentially courted the black vote back in Dade County as gay civil rights leaders had just assumed black voters would vote for them. Other than that the book was immensely helpful and faderman’s arguments are well backed up and sound

Super informative! I laughed and cried and yelled and ranted, and I learned so much about where we've been.
