This was such a joy to read. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in a matter of hours. What a wonderful story. I loved the main characters and their character development, you could tell that the author put a lot of love in writing them.

This was way better than i was expecting it to be. I went into this expecting a somewhat watery, hackneyed plot line with a few good twists and characters if I was lucky, but I found myself completely hooked as soon as I started reading. Although it's still definitely not the most original story ever, Hanley's writing style and vibrant characters make the story come alive. The backstory was well-developed, and the main plot and the characters' behavior were consistent with it. Almost all the characters were dynamic, changing and growing over the course of the story, and the changing point of view was unusually believable. I found it to be a suspenseful and emotional book, and not too slow, even though the story spans ten years. The ending was really sweet. A cute love story, but still packed with action and intrigue, and dark enough to be plausible. This was a really solid, memorable fantasy tale, and I'll probably check out some of Victoria Hanley's other books. I loved it.

For princess Torina of Archeld, her life changes the day her father seizes the peaceful country Bellandra and returns with a legendary sword, a crystal for Torina in which she can see the future and the former prince Landon. As Torina and Landon grow up, all is not good in Archeld and after a plot destroys both their lives, they must find a way to restore peace. The Seer and The Sword is a really good book with an interesting fantasy plot and a gentle romance. I like Landon as through the book he learns to be brave and fight for what he cares about, and I also like Torina as she matures during the book. I would recommend this book to people who like classic fantasy books with a fairytale feel about it.

I stopped reading on page 70 because... it's too much of a children story (not even YA, which I like, children). Everything was very black and white, which I generally find quite boring in books.
