This book feels like when there are 2 cop cars and 6 firetrucks at the house down the street. You can't look away and you sorta know who's who. You may look back in an hour or so and see what the situation is. And man, does the situation evolve...

This book felt like it took years to read. The story was good. A store opens and fulfills everyone's biggest wants for a steep price. The owner doesn't ask for money, he wants favors. The biggest problem was there are way too many characters. The entire city was involved and with King's descriptive storytelling and eye for detail it really got bogged down with minutia that wasn't necessary for the story.
Graphic: Suicide, Grief, Murder
It was okay, not the best King novel but also not the worst

Genuinely a fun time, love the focus on the characters and the atmosphere for the first 4-500 pages was super unsettling I absolutely vibed. The ending is soooo stupid lmao (I’m always surprised when King’s books turn out to be Christian fiction??) and the copaganda goes hard. Also everything was going fine until we find out two characters are gay (obvi the only LGBTQ+ characters in the book) and they’re also both pedophiles 🙄 Stephen. Come on.
Graphic: Violence, Vomit, Murder
Moderate: Animal death, Homophobia, Racism
I read this long ago, way before joining Goodreads. I used to read all of King's books in the early days, and still do read most of them. This one was one of my favorites, if I remember correctly. It was amazing how fairly simple acts could balloon into such drastic consequences.
