Such a fantastic series! It will go on my short list of 'books I always recommend'. The ending is sad but wonderful, but didn't piss me off (unlike other series that shall go unnamed). I would have loved more Sam, but I loved having more of Rangan, so that's OK. For me, characters that have growth through the story always win with me and both Sam and Rangan have that in spades. The ideas & tech of the story are amazing and make me really wish that Nexus was here now. :)

This book, and the whole trilogy, were amazing! I couldn't put it down, and there were definitely some twists in this book that I didn't expect. I loved it! I definitely recommend this series!

I was super excited to find the next book of this series on my kindle.. it sucks that I had to buy it though. Okay, so other than my excitement for this book.. well.. I was a bit bored this time around. I mean, I still love certain characters and I guess the science-y part of it all.. and yet, I still found myself getting bored.

Now Apex is the third book of this series and it falls right after the second book. I feel like there was a bit too much to follow this time around. Plus, I did feel myself getting bored every now and then. The first half of this book, I feel like nothing really happened. Which made so freaking sad and disappointed because that's when I'm usually so sucked into a book. I did, however, end up with a favorite character this time around: Kade. I don't what it is.. but I just love him.

Overall, this series was pretty interesting to dive into. I don't know if I have a favorite out of it (yet) but I am happy to have dived into it.

An excellent end to an excellent trilogy. Thoroughly modern, mostly highly plausible, and global. This is what modern sci-fi should be. Must-read for fans of Philip K. Dick or Neal Stephenson.

Naam does a spectacular job of tension filled, epic endings. The pacing in this book, compared to Crux was much better. I was engaged the whole way.

I liked the issues Naam brought up although some of the situations were getting a bit far fetched. Although I think he belabored the Budhism aspect, I loved that part and was lost in the feelings of peace he so skillfully wrote about.

My first 5 star book in a while, loved the issues, loved the characters, loved the action and tension and
Spoiler I loved the almost happy ending. It seemed like Naam was set to wrap everything up tight but the epilogue left very believable pieces lying around. The was no happy, pink, unicorn world left behind but it was better and hopeful

I would say that although I really did like this book, I think I am done with this world. If he were to write another, I think I would skip it. The three novels explored what I wanted it to and left an ending that was satisfying.

The longest volume in an already epic, sprawling story of evolution, cultural crisis, control, synchronicity, communication, trust and mistrust, and the power of cooperation both intentional and unintentional.

As I mentioned in my reviews of Nexus and Crux, this series is both brilliant and exhausting. Naan has taken technology that we are taking baby steps towards and taken its distant evolution and placed it in a world only a few decades from our own. By doing so, he solves problems of world building around other technology, cultural shift, geopolitical alignment, and so forth. This also means that we move from science fiction metaphor into direct examination of our current political situation, motivations, and delusions. Honestly, I found it all very disheartening (mostly because I found it to be accurate).

In the end, I enjoyed the series enough to place it on my shelf for future re-reading. There are no easy answers here. Even "happy" endings for some characters are so laden with loss and uncertainty that one almost expects a fourth volume, or a fifth. Even in the face of hope, there is cruelty, and abuse, and fear, and distrust. No tool will eliminate those things, but they will force us to grapple with them in new ways.

Fun action series with tech and adventure. More plot than character development.

Viele spannende Gedanken über die Zukunft des Menschen und den Transhumanismus, sehr komplexe Handlung mit vielen Akteuren und einem fulminanten, aber doch eher vorhersehbaren Finale.

There were way too many new and unlikeable POV characters bloating up the first half of the book or so. At least the conclusion was satisfying.
