Thanks for ripping out my heart, and shattering all those hopes. I am glad, neh happy that I know and the writing was GREAT, however terribly romantic.

Stupid horrid little short story broke my heart and made me cry.
I really enjoyed this novella as a companion piece to Echo in the Bone . Roger Mackenzie is one of my favourite characters in the series and I've always wanted to know more about his backstory. Gabaldon made a nice touch to include Frank Randall MI6 role in the WWII-timeline of the story, which we don't get much of in the rest of the series.
Really lovely Outlander extra that I should have read after An Echo in the Bone
Fans of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series will enjoy this very short book that gives us some of Roger's backstory. It's nothing on par with the rest of the series, but I don't think it's meant to be. It really could have been included as an epilogue to one of the earlier books in the series and not published separately.
A short read with it being a novella BUT in those few pages it managed to fill in some vital information and make me cry :)
