The most dour, nordic entry yet. Kind of a bummer, TBH, and a bit too relatable to a dad who often feels like he's got no idea how to be a real adult. After loving six previous books, my kid wasn't interested in finishing this one and our read-aloud stalled at the 75% mark, so I finished it solo.

Moomin is a popular Finnish series and the one at the sea has them move away from their home to set up on an island. This is one pretty dark if it were a children's book as the characters battle with loneliness on a desolate island in the middle of nowhere as the rain and wilderness batters down their optimism day after day.
