what. a. story. the first half was a little slow for me but the second half... I couldn't put it down.
I can't help but compare this to "It" by Stephen King as so many others have as well. but it's hard not to when the stories themselves are quite reminiscent of one another. but what gripe I had with It, this one kinda solved all that. this book was long, it wasn't excessive in length like *cough* *cough* It is. and I seriously loved all our main characters in this story and some things definitely threw me for a loop / didn't expect, and it definitely got creepy as hell.
I thought this was masterfully done and it felt SO atmospheric. the idea of this small Illinois town being almost trapped and secluded by the corn growing around it, I felt like i was right there. I could picture the town of Elm Haven very clearly in my mind and this was exactly what I was looking for in a summer horror book.

This was great! Amazing characters and brilliant horror scenes.
I did have some gripes in that there were some loose ends which weren't tied up so I still had some questions by the end, and I felt like the kids should have been aged up a bit. It felt a bit unbelievable that these kids doing all these things are only 11.
The writing was easy and comfortable, it was paced well so quite a quick read for a 600+ pages horror book.
