I think this is slightly better than Jesus Feminist, but probably because I had fewer expectations for what it would explore. I feel like setting it up as "field notes" allowed her to jump to a lot of different topics. I would say a couple individual chapters in the beginning caught my attention, but then it would feel like a different book altogether (content-wise). I'm not sure how I feel about it. It has some interesting moments, but it's pretty disjointed. Has the same writing style that I can only take in small doses.

Some of us have had to rethink our faith. Maybe we just are not sure what we grew up with is where we are now or was it even our faith. Some of us have been hurt by the "church" so badly we are unsure about pursuing a new congregation, or maybe we've just learned that there is a better way to walk with God than what we grew up with. And just because you've been through this wilderness does not mean you have lost your relationship with God.

Sarah Bessey gently leads you through this wilderness of faith that you are in. She doesn't force or guilt you. She helps you heal, grow and move forward. This book is amazing. It is thought provoking, restorative and healing.
